Jericho Beach Elopement Photos | Manar + Yoshi | Vancouver, BC

Photo of an elopement at Jericho Beach in Vancouver, BC

I have a soft spot for impromptu elopement ceremonies. Yoshi and Manar are friends of mine from university, both scientists, who had been engaged for a little while, but as they pursue their respective research projects and academic goals in different cities, they were going to have to be apart for a while.

So, they decided to have a very last-minute celebration at Jericho Beach in Vancouver BC, before Manar left Vancouver for California. It was a beautifully casual affair; the guests sitting on blankets, one of their close friends, a bartender, volunteered to make cocktails and another, the chef of the group, on the barbecue. Nothing extravagant, but everything you need to celebrate a couple of wonderful people making it official with their loved ones.

The late summer weather was perfect, with a little breeze coming off the water, and the ceremony was short and sweet. They have a larger celebration planned soon, where both of their families will be able to attend, but just couldn’t wait any longer to get those rings on each other’s fingers. It was a wonderfully simple and earnest celebration of love, and I felt lucky to get to capture it.
